Portfolio Conservation of the Crusader Mosaic in Jerusalem

Project Description

The church of the Holy Redeemer in Jerusalem was built at the end of the 19th century on the plot of the Crusader church Saint Mary of the Latins. The area under the floor was excavated when the church was restored in the 1970s. The Crusader Mosaic is today part of the archaeological site under the church of the Holy Redeemer and is an important witness of the decoration of the former Crusader church.

During the intervention, the uncovering of the mosaic was delicately completed and the loose tesserae were stabilized with a restoration mortar.
