Monitoring and maintenance of the romanesque painted wooden ceiling
Project Description
Under the leadership of ARGE Franz & Rampa, and in collaboration with other conservators, the Romanesque painted wooden ceiling of the Church of Saint Martin in Zillis is assessed every three years.
During this strategic campaign, signs of damage and microbiological growth are carefully documented to gather data on the micro-scaling of the sensitive paint layer and the activity of the fungal infestation, which posed a threat to this rare cultural heritage in past decades. This process also includes very localized stabilization measures on the paint layer.
For this purpose, the various panels are individually examined, and the observations are recorded using a tablet-based documentation system.
